Born in Leicester, Michael Robinson, joined Preston North End in 1975. (His parents ran a guest house in nearby Blackpool). He joined Manchester City for a whopping £750,000 in 1979, but only played 30 times for them. He was sold at a loss to Brighton & Hove Albion in 1980, playing 113 games for the Sussex outfit, inclusing the 1983 FA Cup Final against Manchester United.
He transferred to Liverpool the same year where he was decorated with the following:
Robinson then joined Queens Park Rangers and finally CA Osasuna (my Spanish team!) in 1987. Robinson settled in Spain after retiring in 1989 and went on to work as a television pundit in the following decades, hosting El día después from 1991 to 2005.
Michael Robinson was a Republic of Ireland international, making 24 appearances between 1980 and 1986.
