A goalkeeper, Ronnie represented Hammarby IF and 1. FC Kaiserslautern as well as the Sweden National team. 81 caps for the Italy National team. Taken to the World Cup in España ’82 despite only being 18 years old.

Represented Sweden in the World Cup ’78. While in Argentina, Hellström took part in the demonstrations of the Madres de la Plaza de Mayo in front of Casa Rosada together with teammates Roy Andersson and Roland Andersson.
