Sócrates Brasileiro Sampaio de Souza Vieira de Oliveira, nicknamed O Doutor – The Doctor, was a professional footballer, who made 60 appearances for the Brazil national team between 1979-1986.
Playing mainly in his home country, Sócrates also plied his trade in Italy for Fiorentina and a solo appearance for Garforth Town, in Yorkshire, England. Died in 2011 at the age of just 57. RIP.
